1- Once upon a time, there lived a generous and kind-hearted king. He was fond of birds and animals, and had a huge bird sanctuary in his kingdom. He disliked harming the animals and birds. He did not kill them even for meat. In appreciation of his generosity and kindness towards birds, the king was gifted two beautiful falcons by a businessman.
2- Those two falcons were used to different climatic conditions. The king thanked the businessman and ordered the Head bird trainer to provide all the facilities to those beautiful falcons and make them feel comfortable in their country. The Head trainer took care of the birds. Gradually, the birds got adapted to the country’s climate. One day, the king wanted to see the falcons fly as he had heard that one of those falcons could fly to great heights at very high speed. The bird trainer let the falcon out of the enclosure. It flew very high, very quickly, and came down to the enclosure within minutes.
3- The king was quite surprised, and rewarded the bird trainer with a handful of gold coins. He enquired about the other falcon. The bird trainer stated with regret that the other falcon had not moved even a step from day one and had just sat on the branch. The trainer also added that he had tried everything he could but still failed to make the bird move. The king consoled him and told him that he would bring someone more experienced than him to try to train the other falcon.
4- Soon, the king announced that he needed someone to make the falcon move and fly. Hearing this announcement, an old man reached the King’s palace and assured him that he would make the bird fly like the other one. The king asked the head trainer to take the old man to the sanctuary to train the falcon. He said that he would visit them the next day to see if there was any change. The next day, the king was very surprised to see the other falcon fly like the first one to great heights in rapid speed.
5- The king was very happy and gifted the old man a handful of gold coins. Then the king asked the old man what he had done to make the bird fly in a day. The old man simply replied, “I just cut down the branch of the tree where the falcon used to sit.” Many of us are like this. We have wings to fly; we know how to fly, and where to fly. Still we sit doing nothing or doing something that makes us inferior to others.

2- Ces deux faucons étaient habitués à des conditions climatiques différentes. Le roi remercia l’homme d’affaires et ordonna au chef des dresseurs d’oiseaux de fournir toutes les installations nécessaires à ces magnifiques faucons et de les rendre à l’aise dans leur pays. Le chef dresseur s’occupa des oiseaux. Peu à peu, les oiseaux s’adaptèrent au climat du pays. Un jour, le roi voulut voir les faucons voler car il avait entendu dire que l’un de ces faucons pouvait voler à de grandes hauteurs à très grande vitesse. Le dresseur d’oiseaux libéra le faucon de son enclos. Il vola très haut, très rapidement, et revint à l’enclos en quelques minutes.
3- Le roi fut très surpris et récompensa le dresseur d’oiseaux avec une poignée de pièces d’or. Il s’enquit de l’autre faucon. Le dresseur d’oiseaux déclara avec regret que l’autre faucon n’avait pas bougé d’un pouce depuis le premier jour et était resté assis sur la branche. Le dresseur ajouta également qu’il avait tout essayé mais n’avait pas réussi à faire bouger l’oiseau. Le roi le consola et lui dit qu’il ferait appel à quelqu’un de plus expérimenté pour tenter de dresser l’autre faucon.
4- Bientôt, le roi annonça qu’il avait besoin de quelqu’un pour faire bouger et voler le faucon. En entendant cette annonce, un vieil homme se rendit au palais du roi et lui assura qu’il ferait voler l’oiseau comme l’autre. Le roi demanda au chef dresseur de conduire le vieil homme au sanctuaire pour entraîner le faucon. Il dit qu’il les visiterait le lendemain pour voir s’il y avait un changement. Le lendemain, le roi fut très surpris de voir l’autre faucon voler comme le premier à de grandes hauteurs à grande vitesse.
5- Le roi était très heureux et offrit au vieil homme une poignée de pièces d’or. Ensuite, le roi demanda au vieil homme ce qu’il avait fait pour faire voler l’oiseau en un jour. Le vieil homme répondit simplement : “J’ai juste coupé la branche de l’arbre où le faucon avait l’habitude de s’asseoir.” Beaucoup d’entre nous sont comme cela. Nous avons des ailes pour voler ; nous savons comment voler et où voler. Pourtant, nous restons assis à ne rien faire ou à faire quelque chose qui nous rend inférieurs aux autres.
