1- In a dense forest, there was lake. All the animals used to drink water from the lake. The water of this lake was so sweet that many fish lived there for long time. In this lake there lived a crab. The crab’s best friend was a swan. That swan was in the same lake. They were happy in the company of each other. Their happiness lasted until one day a snake made its home near the lake.
Every day the swan laid an egg. The snake would come and eat it up. “I have to find a way to save my eggs,” thought the swan.
2- One day, he went to the crab and said, “Please help me, dear friend. My eggs are under threat. That cruel snake eats all the eggs in the nest. What can I do?”
The crab decided to help its best friend. The crab thought for a while. Then he said, “I have an idea. Let us catch some fish from this lake and scatter them from the snake’s house till the mongoose house.” That mongoose lived in the nearby tree.
3- Then, the crab and the swan caught some fish and dropped them from the mongoose’s house all the way to the snake’s house. Then both of them hid behind a tree and watched. They waited for some time. After a long time, the mongoose came out. He saw the fish and was overjoyed. “Mymm! Fish right outside my own house!” he said, smacking his lips. He happily ate all of them one by one. As he ate he kept following the fish trail to the snake’s house. Finally, the mongoose reached the house of the snake. Both the crab and the swan were watching all these events, waiting behind the tree.
4- When the snake saw the mongoose, he thought, “That mongoose is here to attack me. I had better fight with it.” After some time, the snake started to fight with the mongoose. They fought for some time. After a fierce battle, the mongoose killed the snake.
Watching this behind the tree, the swan and the crab heaved a sigh of relief. But her joy was short-lived. The next day, the mongoose, looking for more fish, came upon the swan’s nest. There the mongoose found more eggs of the swan. He immediately ate all of them. The swan and the crab now felt helpless. They had brought this new threat upon themselves.
5- They did not know that the mongoose was the dangerous helper. “Our thoughtlessness has got us a new enemy. Even more dangerous than the previous enemy,” cried the two friends.
After few days, they decided to form one more plan to get rid of the dangerous helper – mongoose. It is important to be careful while fighting with an enemy.

Dans ce lac vivait un crabe. Le meilleur ami du crabe était un cygne. Ce cygne vivait dans le même lac. Ils étaient heureux en compagnie l’un de l’autre. Leur bonheur dura jusqu’au jour où un serpent fit son nid près du lac. Chaque jour, le cygne pondait un œuf. Le serpent venait le manger. “Je dois trouver un moyen de sauver mes œufs”, pensa le cygne.
2- Un jour, il alla voir le crabe et dit : “S’il te plaît, aide-moi, cher ami. Mes œufs sont en danger. Ce serpent cruel mange tous les œufs dans le nid. Que puis-je faire ?” Le crabe décida d’aider son meilleur ami. Le crabe réfléchit un moment. Puis il dit : “J’ai une idée. Attrapons quelques poissons de ce lac et éparpillons-les de la maison du serpent jusqu’à la maison de la mangouste.” Cette mangouste vivait dans l’arbre voisin.
3- Alors, le crabe et le cygne attrapèrent quelques poissons et les déposèrent depuis la maison de la mangouste jusqu’à la maison du serpent. Ensuite, ils se cachèrent derrière un arbre et observèrent. Ils attendirent un moment. Après un long moment, la mangouste sortit. Elle vit les poissons et fut ravie. “Miam ! Des poissons juste devant chez moi !” dit-elle en se léchant les babines. Elle les mangea tous un par un avec plaisir. En les mangeant, elle suivit la piste des poissons jusqu’à la maison du serpent. Finalement, la mangouste atteignit la maison du serpent. Le crabe et le cygne observaient tous ces événements, cachés derrière l’arbre.
4- Quand le serpent vit la mangouste, il pensa : “Cette mangouste est là pour m’attaquer. Je ferais mieux de me battre.” Après un moment, le serpent commença à se battre avec la mangouste. Ils se battirent un moment. Après une bataille féroce, la mangouste tua le serpent. En regardant cela derrière l’arbre, le cygne et le crabe poussèrent un soupir de soulagement. Mais leur joie fut de courte durée. Le lendemain, la mangouste, cherchant plus de poissons, tomba sur le nid du cygne. Là, la mangouste trouva plus d’œufs de cygne. Elle les mangea immédiatement tous. Le cygne et le crabe se sentaient maintenant impuissants. Ils avaient apporté cette nouvelle menace sur eux-mêmes.
5- Ils ne savaient pas que la mangouste était un dangereux auxiliaire. “Notre imprudence nous a apporté un nouvel ennemi. Encore plus dangereux que le précédent”, pleurèrent les deux amis. Quelques jours plus tard, ils décidèrent de former un nouveau plan pour se débarrasser de l’auxiliaire dangereux – la mangouste. Il est important d’être prudent en combattant un ennemi.
