1- There once was a speedy Hare who bragged about how fast he could run. Tired of hearing him boast, the Tortoise challenged him to a race. All the animals in the forest gathered to watch. The Hare ran down the road for a while and then paused to rest. He looked back at the tortoise and cried out, “How do you expect to win this race when you are walking along at your slow, slow pace?”
2- The Hare stretched himself out alongside the road and fell asleep, thinking, “There is plenty of time to relax.” The Hare and the Tortoise StoryThe Tortoise walked and walked, never ever stopping until he came to the finish line. The animals who were watching cheered so loudly for Tortoise that they woke up the Hare. The Hare stretched, yawned and began to run again, but it was too late. Tortoise had already crossed the finish line.
3- After being defeated by the tortoise, the hare did some soul-searching. He knew that though he had tried hard in the beginning, he was not consistent, and had grown overconfident. He was determined to undo his mistakes, and invited tortoise for another race. This time, the rabbit was careful to run the whole distance, and of course, emerged the winner.
4- Well, after emerging the loser in the second race, the tortoise thought long and hard. He knew that in any traditional terrain, the hare would win, if he was fast and consistent. Therefore, he thought of a non-traditional terrain for the race. Then he invited the rabbit for another race. This time the rabbit laughed out loud, thinking that the tortoise was out of his head. But the tortoise insisted that there should be another race and the terrain would be decided by the tortoise.
5- The rabbit agreed to the idea. The race began. The rabbit was leading in front, with the tortoise far back trundling along. Around half way through the race, they came across a river. The rabbit halted on the bank of the river, wondering how to cross the river. Meanwhile, the tortoise approached the river slowly, got in to the water, swam across, climbed up on the other bank, ran the last few kilometers, and won the race.
Moral: when your capabilities are below par, choose a playing ground that gives you a natural advantage.

1- Il était une fois un Lièvre rapide qui se vantait de la vitesse à laquelle il pouvait courir. Fatiguée de l’entendre se vanter, la Tortue le défia à une course. Tous les animaux de la forêt se rassemblèrent pour regarder. Le Lièvre courut sur la route pendant un moment, puis s’arrêta pour se reposer. Il se retourna vers la tortue et cria : « Comment peux-tu espérer gagner cette course en marchant à ton rythme si lent ? »
2- Le Lièvre s’étira le long de la route et s’endormit, pensant : « Il y a largement le temps de se détendre. » La Tortue marchait et marchait, sans jamais s’arrêter jusqu’à ce qu’elle atteigne la ligne d’arrivée. Les animaux qui regardaient acclamèrent si fort la Tortue qu’ils réveillèrent le Lièvre. Le Lièvre s’étira, bâilla et recommença à courir, mais c’était trop tard. La Tortue avait déjà franchi la ligne d’arrivée.
3- Après avoir été battu par la tortue, le lièvre fit une introspection. Il savait que même s’il avait bien commencé, il n’avait pas été constant et était devenu trop confiant. Il était déterminé à corriger ses erreurs et invita la tortue pour une autre course. Cette fois, le lièvre prit soin de courir toute la distance et, bien sûr, il émergea victorieux.
4- Eh bien, après avoir perdu la deuxième course, la tortue réfléchit longuement. Elle savait que sur un terrain traditionnel, le lièvre gagnerait, s’il était rapide et constant. Elle pensa donc à un terrain non traditionnel pour la course. Ensuite, elle invita le lièvre pour une autre course. Cette fois, le lièvre rit aux éclats, pensant que la tortue avait perdu la tête. Mais la tortue insista pour qu’il y ait une autre course et que le terrain soit décidé par la tortue.
5- Le lièvre accepta l’idée. La course commença. Le lièvre était en tête, avec la tortue loin derrière en train de trundler. À mi-chemin de la course, ils arrivèrent à une rivière. Le lièvre s’arrêta sur la rive, se demandant comment traverser la rivière. Pendant ce temps, la tortue approcha lentement de la rivière, entra dans l’eau, traversa à la nage, grimpa sur l’autre rive, courut les derniers kilomètres et remporta la course.
Morale: lorsque vos capacités sont inférieures, choisissez un terrain de jeu qui vous donne un avantage naturel.
